Creating a Digitally enabled Police-Force
Background:
In August 2019, with great ambition to create a digitally enabled police-force whether operating on the front-line or in positions of strategic leadership, West Mercia engaged Talent for 14 permanent hires in Security, Data & Solutions Architecture; along with Technical Delivery, Design & Technical Integration specialists, Business Analysts, Technical Support (3rd and 4th line) and Procurement.
Approach:
Talent worked in partnership with the Force’s Head of Delivery and their Recruitment Business Partner, taking considerable time to understand the culture and the values that sit at the heart of the organization whilst implementing strict practices to meet deadlines, quality documentation and meaningful management information for adherence to agreed SLA’s.
Key to market attraction was the development of the Employee Value Proposition and the creation of a dedicated careers website showcasing the positive attributes of the organisation, including in-depth interviews with key stakeholders. Our unique data insights allowed West Mercia Police to create an enticing package while a multicampaign ensured maximum reach.
Through headhunting approaches within targeted talent pools, Talent ensured touchpoints within excess of 250 candidates. Thorough pre-screening and vetting processes ensured effective shortlists for a rigorous panel interview, which improved the selection process to one in every two candidates presented being offered.
Results:
Through this process, we were able to deliver 14 permanent hires within a seven-month period. While there have been challenges along the way, and we had to work against a candidate-short and highly competitive market, we firmly believe these were overcome due to the effective partnership between West Mercia and Talent Consulting.
